Thank You
Dear Sooze,
I just wanted to tell you how well your students are doing with their volunteer work.  They have dedicated themselves to some very important and hard work getting ready for the holiday sale.  They are so polite, helpful, enthusiastic, hard-working, and interested and it is a pleasure to have them.  The youth have been prompt and reliable and willing to do anything that is asked of them.  I am so thrilled to have them with us and hope that they continue to be interested in working with us in the future.  Thank you and them for their participation and diligent efforts.  They are just a joy!  They are very responsible and I told them in January that we would be training for working in the shop on Saturdays so that is something that we will move towards.  Thank you again for your support.  I hope you and the rest of your school community are enjoying the peace of the season.

Sincerely,

Rosemary Morabito

Home-baked Doggie Treats

Pasadena Humane Society

For Sierra Madre Middle School Service Club
one batch of doggie treats earns 2 hours of service time.

You Need:
2 ½ cups whole wheat flour                             ½ cup powdered milk
½ teaspoon salt                                              ½ teaspoon garlic powder
6 tablespoons margarine or meat drippings        ½ cup ice water
1 egg, beaten                                                 1 teaspoon brown sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Combine flour, milk, salt, and sugar.  Cut in margarine/drippings until mixture resembles cornmeal.  Mix in egg.  Add enough water so that the mixture forms a ball.  With your fingers, pat out the dough to ½- inch thickness on a lightly oiled cookie sheet.   Cut with biscuit or cookie cutters into shapes.  Press the scraps together and repeat the process to cut more shapes.  Bake for 25-30 minutes.  Remove from oven and let cool.  Store in a ziplock baggie in the freezer.
